Green Island Cement Company, Ltd.

Hongkong, 17th December, 1914.

The Hon:

! 13587

The Colonial Secretary,

0923 MAR 15

HONGKONG.

Sir,

We have the honour to approach you regarding the

despatches sent by the Consul General in Canton to the Civil

Governor dated 12th October and 27th November and the Civil

Governor's despatch dated 23rd November with reference to

Limestone of which we believe you have received copies.

The proposal that we should receive supplies of stone

free until the amount of our claim has been liquidated is one

which we have already expressed our willingness to accept and

we should be glad if sone steps could be taken to get the Canton

Authorities to agree to it.

Te would take this opportunity of mentioning that up

till now we have not received any limestone of suitable quality

from Kwangtung and are still depending on Haiphong for all our

supplies.

What little stone we have received (about 600 Tons) has

been poor stuff and quite unsuitable for cement making.

The Lo Ti Wan quarry in Ying Tak from which we re-

ceived supplies of stone formerly, we are informed was confisc-

ated by the Canton Government and our old contractors are debarred

from getting stone there.
